Summary

We have created a new position, Accounting Assistant, to join our team. This full-time on-site role is located in Milwaukee, WI. The Accounting Assistant will perform assigned duties within accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and the general ledger.

Job Description

Education

Bachelor’s degree or Associate's degree required in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.


Desired Experience

2-4 years of experience in related position, with priority given to experience in a furniture dealership or design firm

Reports To

Director of Finance


Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

  • Ability to type 75 words per minute

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills

  • Proficient with or able to quickly learn the accounting and project software used by Duet

  • Knowledge of payroll systems such as ADP or Paychex is a plus

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Enter AP invoices into accounting system and research any discrepancies

  • Enter vendor and customer information into accounting system and update as necessary

  • Issue payments to vendors as approved

  • Answer vendor and customer questions by researching accounts

  • Generate AR invoices

  • Apply customer payments; research discrepancies

  • Review invoices for proper application of sales taxes

  • Record monthly recurring journal entries

  • Other duties as assigned
